A Videogame money saving tip for all you UK players out there!

Hi guys, so with a shit load of brilliant games coming out this month, a lot of us will be having their pockets completely drained which is always a depressing thing to see! Recently I found a way of saving some of our hard earned cash by trading in old, unplayed games with a particular strategy to get the most money off your next purchases!

If, like me, you have a pile of old unplayed games, it's a no brainer to think it'd be easy to trade them in for cash back- but if you do it the right way, you can maximise the cash you get back, thus saving your hard earned money off your next purchase. GAMESTATION currently runs a promotion where they will not only pricematch a competitor for store trade in price within a 5 mile radius, but they will also BEAT IT by a pound if the competitor is cheaper. The great news is that the gamestation trade in prices SUCK compared to almost every other competitor.

What this means is before you go in with your games, if you bring in evidence of the trade in prices of competitors (HMV have an app on smart phones, CEX have a website where you can get all their live trade in prices- just printscreen and bring into gamestation store)you can make an extra quid on top of the very best trade in price for your money!

I know this doesn't sound an awful lot, but I recently traded in all my old unwanted games spanning back around 6 years worth, and with the trade in prices achieved, I managed to COMPLETELY pay off my purchases for both BF3 and MW3 that means I'm effectively 85 quid up just for trading in unwanted games and being a little smart about it!

If you guys want any help on this or have any questions just drop me a line and I'll try and help out
I can't think of anything clever to put in my signature so I'm just gonna say hi!

Everyone here in the States does that at most video game stores. Gamestop and Game Crazy are the top ones around here.

I never trade my games in though. I have so many games dating back to my old consoles like nintendo and atari. I rather keep those games than to trade them in. My Son sometimes plays the old games and so do my nieces and nephews. They are always a good way to keep kids entertained for hours.

But for some it is the best way to stay updated with the latest games and it "IS" of course a very smart way to get your new games. I am fortunate enough that I have a job and I can pay for my games.

Just a heads up to all the members and recruits. I am thinking about doing a "MEMBER OF THE MONTH" of course every month. The winner would get a prize, maybe a game, microsoft points, a headset. I don't know yet.

What does everyone think about that?

haha thanks cheech mate yeah I would assume USA would do it better.... you always need to do things bigger than us in the UK :P I think something that's worth noting for both sides of the pond though is that amazon trade in offers really good exchange rates. I recently traded in my black ops and whereas the highstreets were offering me 4,5 quid.. amazong gave me 12 quid for it... pretty cool!

If you have the patience, sell your games on eBay. You get real cash and more value than those credit shops will ever offer you.

I also found a loophole with stores like EB Games or Gamestop. Sometimes they offer you trade in deals towards pre-orders where they will offer you extra credit, more than usual, or something like 50% extra credit for example. Let me explain...

You trade in some games and your store credit gets thrown onto a plastic swipe card. When you want to buy games afterwards the store clerk swipes your card and the credit is applied to your purchase. Now if you trade in some games and receive bonus credit towards a particular pre-order, the credit is thrown onto this plastic swipe card and remains locked in there. Call the store up later and cancel your pre-order verbally. The store clerk does not have access to your swipe card and cannot remove any store credit that was applied as part of the pre-order promotion. Now keep the bonus credits you received and apply them to a game you actually want.
