I am going to hurt people's feelings with this one, but Rough Country lift kits are horrible !!!! I always hear from people who installed or had a shop install a rough country lift kit on their trucks that they are so bad and end up regretting buying a rough country lift kit lol.
Most of them say their trucks now ride like shit, they can't get an alignment done properly and or something broke because of the lift kit, like wheel bearings, axles, tie rods, upper control arms breaking and their wheels falling off on the highway.
When I was shopping around for a lift kit for my 2018 Ram 1500, all the shops around here were recommending a rough country 6" lift kit which would cost about $600 for just the lift kit but they all wanted between $800 up to a $1500 to install it on my truck lol ..... are you fucking serious !!!!!
So I started watching videos, reading about rough country lift kits on other forums and I would just sit back at night laughing at all the jokes and people bashing rough country lift kits and people talking about their experiences with these cheap ass lift kits.
It took me 7 months to make a decision on what lift kit to go with. It was 7 months of nothing but horror stories about rough country lift kits, not only on Ram 1500s but on Chevys, Fords, Toyotas, Jeeps and the list went on and on lol ...
One night on some forums, some guy from Maxtrac Suspension saw me asking about a good offroad shop in Riverside California and he recommended that I check out 3 different shops near me. The first one said go with rough country, it's a cheap lift kit and will get the job done. Not for $2500 just for the lift kit and installation lol !!! Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit ....
I called the 2nd one and the guy recommended that I go with the Maxtrac with fox shocks all the way around, he gave me a quote with wheels and tires and I said, "I will call you back".
I then called the 3rd place and that guy also said go with rough country, they cheap but since you have a 2wd you don't need more than that ... are you fucking serious dude ?
That night I sat down, ate dinner with my wife and I told her about the 3 phone calls I made. She said don't get anything cheap, get what you think is better so that we don't have to worry about anything later down the road.
The next day I called that 2nd shop and talked to the Owner Javier from Accessories Unlimited in Riverside California. He asked me if I could go into his shop to talk in person and I told him that I would be there in 30 minutes. When I got there we discussed what exactly was that I wanted and he gave me an out the door price for the lift kit, wheels, tires and installation.
So far I haven't had any issues with my Maxtrac 7" lift kit with fox shocks all around. I know of a few people who got rough country lift kits and ended up buying another lift kit and had to pay for removal and re-installation of the new lift kits they got ...
Look, you get what you pay for we all know that and with rough country lift kits you don't get much yet they are now starting to charge more for their piece of shit lift kits lol .... I am seeing more and more videos of people complaining about their trucks driving so bad that they are actually scared to drive their trucks !!!! Not me, fuck that shit !!!!!
So straight up, rough country lift kits ARE NOT GOOD QUALITY people !!!!!! The only good thing about rough country is their new powersteps which are exactly the same powersteps I have by RBP (Rolling Big Power), it's the RBP Stealth Power Running Boards. If you are in the market for some high quality powersteps at a very reasonable price, check them out, that is the only thing I will ever recommend by rough country lol .....
