If you haven't played the first one, then it is for sure a must. Do yourselves a favor and grab them both while you are at Gamestop. It isn't completely necessary to play the first one in order to understand the second but what little bit of story there is does pick up right where the first left off. Plus it would help you to understand the game mechanics.
With a co-op feature it is perfect for a well oiled clan like this.
