Eric Hirshberg CEO of Activision is Stepping Down

So I go through the internet every night and just look for shits and giggles and I sometimes run into shit that is actually worth talking about or mentioning at the very least.

Eric Hirschberg is the current CEO of Activision and just announced that he is leaving Activision in March. What "IS" really fishy here is that Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield who ran EA’s studio Visceral Games which was shut down by EA last October and are co-founders of Sledgehammer Games and directors of Call of Duty: WWII are moving up to Executive positions for Activision.

Although Eric Hirschberg was nothing but a creative advertising executive who managed the marketing campaigns for Activision's COD games, He is the one who I personally blame for turning COD games into "PICKUP AND PLAY" games that anyone could simply pick up and be a "beast" at it.

In his very own quotes Eric Hirschberg said “there’s a soldier in all of us” and used tv commercials for MW3 to promote the game and target everyone, veterans and newcomers alike. Unfortunately newcomers included "NOOBS" and immature kids who had and to this day have no clue about teamwork.

Just in the last 3 years COD games have fallen out of favor by most of us gamers who like to play the game in a very organized manner and this guy Eric Hirschberg is the one who turned COD into an arcade style game that requires absolutely no strategies or tactics to be good at it.

Maybe that is why Eric Hirschberg is leaving, or maybe he has been asked to step down to avoid announcing that he has been fired as CEO of Activision for COD games being so damn horrible despite the huge sales numbers which have generated billions of dollars. Hirschberg said that games are not products but brands and people buy brands. This right here proves that this guy was not interested in publishing a great game but instead creating a "brand" that everyone wanted.

Before Hirschberg became the CEO of Activision he was the CEO of Deutsch Inc. a damn Marketing agency that knew nothing about video games. This guy never had any kind of experience in video games and nevertheless put together marketing campaigns that did what he wanted them to do and that was to make COD games into bigger household names that everyone wanted and need to have.

So now Activision is looking for a new CEO and if the new moves by Michael Condrey and Glen Shofield to Executive roles have anything to do with Hirschberg's contract not being renewed or him just simply wanting to leave Activision, it may very well mean that COD games are going to continue on the path that they have been on since the firing of Vince Zampella and Jason West in 2010.

Jason West was the Director of Modern Warfare 2 which is probably the best COD game and along with Vince Zampella they were fired and since then COD games have turned into games that many have said are horrible with the exception of Black Ops 1.

Eric Hirschberg might of left because Activision probably didn't pay him what he felt he deserved for generationg billions of dollars for Activsion, but can you really blame Activision if this is true?

COD: WW2 was directed by both Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey which surprisingly got the game back where it started and that was great ole' boots on the ground action the opposite of which is something that both Schofield and Condrey started with Advanced Warfare.

Maybe, just maybe Hirschberg is now going through the same thing that both Vince Zampella and Jason West went through and that was promises of paid bonuses between $54 and $216 million which is what they were asking for in a lawsuit by both Zampella, West and other former employees of Activision.

History always repeats itself and Activision never seems to learn. While all this is just pure speculation, Activision is known for "shady business" and not listenting to the very people who have made billions in sales. Regardless of the reasons behind Hirschberg's decisions to leave Activision one thing is for sure, Activsion hasn't had a good game director as good as Dave Anthony who directed Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 and now it not only loses Eric Hirschberg but also Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey as directors.
