Reducing Latency

today I took another couple steps for lag reduction. im currently on 20MB service through newwave, they are coming by tomorrow to upgrade me to 50MB for only $5 more per month. they are swapping the 4 yr old modem I have for a new one they now provide. Im gonna grab a high performance modem after they come by tomorrow. Im hoping the guy that arrives will know about making me NAT type open. Im thinking of grabbing this modem:

Quick update:

I believe I have the best setup possible, at least on my end. Here are some of the changes I've made:

Internet connection: went from Wifi to a LAN cable (cat5 cable)
Router: still using the same router just did the "port forward" change. My NAT type went from Strict to Open
TV: Bought an Asus monitor with 1ms response. I didn't realize how much lag was just in my 8 year old flat screen TV.

Collectively there is a big difference in my gaming experience. I'm not having a lot of those "shoot first die first" things happen. The TTK is a lot lower. Now I use less rounds to kill and am able to respond to trouble faster which sometimes saves my bacon.

On the skill side...I have a lot of work to do...I'm still very much a NOOB!

Can't wait for IW but, mostly I'm looking forward to MWR.

Last night I teamed up with DCogs and Soulcaster, both in California, we all jumped on DCogs lead, conclusion:

The fact that teammates are in California and I am in Missouri will always lend to poor connections/lag, regardless of our solid internet connections/pings.....

Yes most time depends who hosting lobby if you host they may ping 3 bars while u hold a steady 4

Not always....everyone needs a good upload speed since the server is actually running at very high download speeds....we as the gamers need good enough upload speed to send our actions to the server on time to prevent the lag and poor reaction during games by us
