Young Andy Cole? Yeah...I'd go with that. I remember when United bought Cole for 7m...he was on fire for Newcastle and was then the most expensive player in the league going to Old Trafford.

Wasn't until he paired off with Yorke the following season that he did anything meaningful and thus became a legend.

£7m tho...most expensive player then...pales in comparison to today's big money transfers! It's nuts I tell thee!

Kanchelskis and then Beckham...my two heroes I reckon...although the team in the 90s were all legendary to me lol.

That's exactly it man,football back then was all about the passion of playing the game and less about the money that the clubs getting per signing.
You look back to the 90's and every team had passion within its team.Miss them old time players ,Irwin,Keane,Hughes,Sharp and who can ever forget Eric the King.
Miss them days,lol blubbed like a baby when they won the treble lol

I don't remember so much falling down either. It seems nowadays that part of the game is about tricking the ref into giving a foul. Pisses me off. Someone like Raheem Sterling...so much talent yet has a real problem staying upright. If he just used his skill rather than dropping, I think he'd get a lot more love.

Mind you...i also remember when you were only allowed a certain number of foreign players in your squad for some competitions.

Easier for them to take a fall and earn their extravagant weekly wage than have to actually play proper football.Its crazy how much football has changed since them early 90's and to be honest I don't see it ever going back there again.Its all about the money now.

Holy crap man...small world!
I actually took my eldest to the Amex a few weeks ago to see the Seagulls play the Canaries...great game...mainly because we scored five goals! Not to rub it in you understand...just awesome to see them play good football!

I used to live in Mile Oak so not far from the Goldstone.


As for United...yeah...it's been a troublesome transition after Fergies departure. Moyes bringing Felaini with him upset me...just don't like him. As for our young blood...some real flair there...almost like the class of 92 with Beckham, Scholes, Giggs et al...

playing catch up here - been away for a few days. can i put in a claim to fame for scoring a winner at the withdean? although it was hockey and I was at school. my glory day that was. 1985...
