I have been thinking about this too. Hate the thought since I have two X1 and a bunch of accessories but...Microsoft is pissingn me off and I have always been a Sony fanboy. I went from a PS3 to X1

Headset to buy: idk, the headset it comes with is what I use and it works pretty well

The connection is pretty good but depending on how much bandwidth you are using, it can lag a little
