    Microtransactions In Rainbow Six Siege?

Is Rainbow Six Siege Getting Microtransactions? Game’s Animation Director Talks ‘Rainbow Credits’

By Fritz Gleyo, Tech Times | October 23, 1:52 AM

In five weeks, gamers will be able to get their hands on Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, a first-person shooting game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and to be published by its parent company, Ubisoft. With the game's release approaching, its animation director, Scott Mitchell, agreed to an interview with Joe Vargas of the Angry Joe YouTube channel. Suffice to say, some pretty interesting things, including the possibility of microtransactions, were revealed.

Mitchell opened the interview by explaining how the previously reported 11 single-player scenarios will be used to introduce players to the mechanics of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. He then proceeded to talk about map sizes, the A.I.'s sophisticated design, and the varied pricing for the available game editions.

Although all those are relevant, one thing stood out. After commenting on game tactics, Joe asked Mitchell about the continuance of the renown system, which lets players unlock operators and customize their characters, a feature previous Rainbox Six titles had. While explaining the in-game currency and its availability, the animation director uttered a couple of words that heightened people's senses — some went feral, by the way.

"So the in-game currency is called renown, we also have Rainbow credits that you can put towards unlocking things," Mitchell explained.

Joe immediately interrupted him in hopes of clarifying Rainbow credits.

"What are Rainbow credits?" the stunned Joe Vargas asked with a confused face.

Mitchell then changed the topic. However, based on how the conversation went, the microtransactions are likely to be incorporated with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, a thought that upsets some people.

Nonetheless, Ubisoft plans to cheer people up with the future maps that will be offered as free DLCs, which Mitchell explained as intentional for the company that does not want to "split the community."

Below is Mitchell's interview with Joe Vargas. The "Rainbow credits" slip is around the 9-minute mark.

What a great find! That solved a lot of my issues and concerns. I like that the maps will be free DC maps. I am really wondering what they will use the season pass for. I agree that the shields are way over powering but they have done a lot to balance the shields with the reloads and stuff. But they should have a shelf life on them. Good way to fix the balance even more is make it so the window can only hold so much till it breaks and shoot through the glass. I dunno, that is kind of a good idea.

Thanks for sharing that video with us. I really can not wait for the game to come out! Been waiting for a real good, tactful first person shooting and it will fix my "itch" for it. So excited for the game! Hope everyone else is just as excited for it as I am and we can get a good team for it! Us military people can really but our training to good use in a video game.

What do my military brothers think?

In R6V the shield was strong as fuck .... I don't mind it being that way at all ... Shields are meant to take damage without breaking down and it should stay that way ...

However, shields do break down and that creates weak spots. They are only designed to take "so much damage". I think shooting it so much should create some kind of weak spot that if hit the round goes through at a reduced damage. Like the glass. I do not think it should destroy the shield and it should still be affective. Just my thoughts.

No one said it should be easy. Lol. But just a little balance in it I think would be nice. Maybe if flash bang your lower your shield a little to rub your eyes. Not ask the way but a little corner.

I was a Bitch and got Banned

The glass could be bullet resistant but there should be a way around it like a weak spot or something
