Well, technically police are allowed to use force in moderation (and non-lethal [taser, OC, baton] as well as lethal [bullets, obviously]). If you spit on a cop, expect a nice juicy knuckle sandwich... or at least to be violently put on your face. No, a cop will not tase you for spitting on them, but if the guy was being a dick, the cop's gonna be a dick back. It is well within the realm of reasonable police action.

That said, I think the situation was handled nicely. The asshole very well could have been inconvenienced a little more by the situation...

Usually the only ones spitting on my car are in my backseat but I don't sweat that. That's what trustees are for, they get to clean my car. It's job security for them. As far as spitting on the outside of my car. I would site him in to mandatory court for public disturbance since the general public witnessed it. That way his father would have to deal with him in open court in front of everyone. Although he would have another judge take the case. But either way his actions would move than likely effect his dad's re election chances. Now that's karma v
