Always remember.

I remember returning from Iraq sitting in a board for Soldier of the month and CSM asks me, "how many Soldiers died in Iraq". I couldn't answer. I hated that place. He looks at me disappointed and said, "just because you're not there doesn't mean you should forget the Soldiers still fighting".
I'll take that with me forever because we still have Service Members in Afghanistan fighting today. It's not just a day to remember 9/11 but remember our Service Members deployed.

Yep i remember that day i was born the day after on the same year.

9/11 was a hard for many of us. This day in American History was a day no American should ever forget, but most of all mysrlf. I was on Duty during 9/11 and it shocked everyone on Duty.
Now as a Commander for an American Legion it was just as difficult. Watching our fellow Vets in sorrow and MAD.

I was in the 6th grade outside at recess. My mom, the librarian at the time, ran out and hugged me in tears and said Larry is OK. Totally had no idea what that meant. They harder us all inside immediately to watch the news.

Later that day when I got home I can't to find out that my uncle, Larry, was supposed to fly one of the two planes that hit the towers. He got called off that morning before the flight because the other pilot ended up being able to make the flight.

One tower was hit my friend was born then the next tower was hit. We had a moment of silence at school the other day and we watched videos about it.

I was in highschool. English class was in the middle of lecture when out of nowhere, the wall mounted TV turned on to CNN. We sat there while we watched our country get punched in the nose. It was on that day that I vowed to do whatever I had to do to get in the service. I remember the very next day, every single home on the street I lived on had an American flag flying from it. Those attacks not only woke America up, it united the nation in a way that no one expected.

My thoughts and prayers go out every year to the families of those lost in that heinous attack as well to the 3k+ service members that were killed in action.
