One of my favorite bands in the world is 311, always has been......in fact 311's Self Titled "311" Album was the first CD I ever purchased. But, I personally believe Brandon Boyd has one of, if not THE, best live voices in Music PERIOD. Incubus has come a long way from their first albums "Fungus Amongus" or "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." though most people didn't know of them until the songs "Pardon Me"/"Drive"/"Stellar"/"Miss You" came out on their Break-Out Album. I have purchased every last album, video, shirt they have and even Brandon Boyd's Art. Perhaps it isn't your taste, and if it isn't then what is your favorite band?? (I also have a signed EP from 311 and Morning View CD from Incubus thanks to a great sister and being deployed-prize possessions).

Same here, brother. I listened to 311 all through high school, and though my music taste has changed since then, I still love some "Come Original", "From Chaos", and "Amber". "311" was the first CD I ever purchased as well.

I didn't care for Fungus Amongus, but S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was my SHIT right next to 311's self-titled album. Voice of a fucking angel, bro. "Drive", "Pardon Me", "Stellar", "Wish You Were Here", and "11am" are my fucking jams. That said, the "Morning View" album was pretty fucking badass too. I loved the semi-asian feel it had.

Fuck yeah on the signed EPs. I actually ran into Chris from Breaking Benjamin in an elevator at an old folks home... Supposedly he was in the area for a show and was visiting a relative... signed my BIBLE. I was dropping grandma off after a family dinner, and was on my way to church.
Another badass band from the 311/Incubus era that I absolutely love is AFI
That shit pulled me through some tough years... all 3 bands.

Well they don't get radio time, they really never did before or after they broke out with that album. They have had so many more albums and releases since that it's ridiculous you only hear their old stuff from the late 90's. They actually just released a new set and I like it, it went back to more of the early sound. If you notice they are one of the few bands that has a different style for each album, like 311. I respect it and like that they aren't afraid to experiment and play what they want and their fans want instead of what is popular. Check out their album releases, one is a few years old but is called "Monuments and Melodies" and has some old songs, some new songs, and songs that people had no idea they made for movies or games like Halo.

I like the Def Tones, seen them in concert once but I personally only like a few songs by them. As for Incubus, I have gone to extremes to see them in Concert....since Alaska doesn't get them to play here, I have to travel out of state and doesn't matter if you fly to Seattle or Miami, plane tickets seem to be rather close in price. I really want to go see them at the "Red Rocks" in Colorado (got a DVD with one of their sets recorded live there and the venue is BEAUTIFUL). We get some great bands up here, both in Fairbanks and Anchorage but it isn't year round big names. We have had 311 come and I bought a ticket to a band that I thought would be shitty but it was getting a lot of attention and it turned out to be a band I have several albums from now....Sick Puppies. I'm sure as Anchorage continues to grow in size we will start getting more big bands up in Alaska (if the Economy doesn't crash that is, we stay rather untouched but the tourism and cost of moving here reduces business a lot). When I first got up here in 2003 Anchorage had about 400k people and now it has grown to well over 650k. Both Juneau (Capital) 30k population and here in Fairbanks (2nd largest city next to ANC) closing in on 40k people have stayed roughly the same. I thank the winters every summer when tourists rape the roads and clutter all the stores/restaurants while we have to pay for the same summer inflation/gouging that is meant for the visitors. ($350/night hotel room that is $70 in winter)
