What Do You Do For Your Job/career?

I want to know what other people do for a living so I thought I would start this up.

I am a line cook at the current moment working my way to become a chef. I have been a line cook for a year and a half now and love making new creative dishes and learning from the guys we train in the kitchen when we are hiring new managers.

So what does everyone here do for a living?

I'm currently working security. I have applied for a supervisory position and am waiting on an interview. This is just temporary until I finish school, then I will look into Police work.

I'm a Customer Service Rep with a private subcontracting company that changes water meters for American Water. more of a job than a career but all the people i work with are super nice and the atmosphere doesn't make it feel like going to work.

I drove a forklift for years, at the landfill and most recently at the slaughter house, about 6 weeks back the head doctors revoked my licences permanently... Fortunately am a lucky sob when it comes to picking winners so am making my coin that way for now

Assistant manager at a Dollar Tree. Everything having to do with running a store.. register.. deliveries.. stocking.. training and so on.

I'm currently in my final year of an engineering course, I was working in a call centre for Sky TV but they were knobs and I'm waiting to hear word from another company at the moment

I currently work in shipping and at the parts counter at a company called AG Spray Equipment (the name should be self explanatory). We build and manufacture large agricultural sprayers and storage tanks - up to about 10,000 gallons in size.

I'm pretty much split in twenty different directions at work and not once have I been offered any sort of training; even after being requested.

I'm the only person in shipping; I pull orders for about eight salesman, as well as tickets for transfer that come from our other locations. I ship out about 100 packages via UPS (ranging from 1 pound to about 120 pounds), and I ship out about twenty shipments via LTL truck lines (average of two pallets per shipment).

All in all I deal with about 10-12 tons of equipment and small parts on a daily basis and handle anywhere from $25,000 to over $250,000 in merchandise every day.

I also have to check in and stock all merchandise that comes in.

To top it all off, I have to stop all of that at the drop of a hat if a customer walks in the front door to help them (probably 30-50 customers come in every day).

I'm expected to get all shipments done every day and I'm told to ask for help when I need it (but 75% of the time I get absolutely no help).

I bust my ass on a daily basis, just to come home and get pushed around some more in a house in which I don't have my own room or a place to store my own belongings.

My life is hell.

i work for a chevy dealership, started out wahing cars then moved to service porter and now i deliver parts. working up the ladder lol

I work for the provincial government in British Columbia, Canada. I have been working for the Wildfire Management Branch for 20 seasons now. From a wildfire fighter to crew leader to tactics officer to operations section chief to logistics section chief to an Aviation specialist. Currently I work in the Provincial Airtanker Program as an Air Attack Officer.

My job now consists of managing the aerial firefighting efforts from the cockpit. Coming up with fire action strategies and leading air tankers to drop retardant on fires. I am blessed with an amazing job and work with talented people. I posted some vids in the movies and music thread called bombing wildfires. Just a small cog in a big wheel, putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff.
