Free With Gold Games On Xbox.

Ok so most of you may already know about tjis, but if ypu dont here is some news for you.

I dont know when the change happened but a while back xbl wouldnt let you confirm the free purchase of an xbox one game unless you had one registered to your xbl. So i was watching as all these kool gamess were being offered and was disappojnted that when i finally get a one in the future i will have missed out on all of them....

Well after a quick chat with an xbox rep apparently that has changed, you can now activate the free with gold purchase for xbox one games even if you dont own one, meaning that when you do get one you will have a bunch of free games you have been triggering to download and play....

Finally xbox coes something right!

Um okay...call me a noob but how do you go about doing this and if so won't your subscription run out by the time you get the One?

All joking aside thats a valid questions. First sll you do to activate it is go to the xbl website and login with your account. At the top hover over Xbox Live Gold and select Games with gold. Once there you will se what games are on for the month, click the downoad button next to the Xboxone game and on the next screen click to purchase it for $0.00. Now if it doesnt work try a different browser cuz i couldnt get IE to work on my work pc but chrome on my tablet did work. The screen will then show your purchase date instead of a purchase button.

Now for part 2 of your question, and this is whyni prefer xbox gold over psn network. Although the free game selection on psn is way more expansive once you let your subscription lapse you lose all your games, and when you renew they're all gone...

With xbl, the games are yours forever, you can delete and re download them whenever you want regardless of what happened with your subscription. You can continue to play them offline, and the only fact i will need to double check is that i beleive tjat even after your subscription to gold has lapsed you can still download games you have previously purchased you just cant play online with them... that last thing though i will doublecheck tomorrow and post clarification.

Played it for a solid 3 hrs last night,really really addictive game.

I was getting as many 360 ones as I could since they started the program but I've had to miss a few since my memory is shrinking a bit.

Yeah I hear you. I've got to be more selective of what I download now.

So i never leave my x360 plugged in all day, so dowmloads to try to start until i boot up at night. So here is what i do.


Ii always go to the xbl site to trigger the purchase if the free game. Then it tells me it will be in my active downloads. Then next time i boot up the 360 i just go to active dowmloads and cancel the download. Only thing to watch for with this is sometimes xbox will create a specer file o your hard drive to reserve the the space for the games as it downloads in, i have to go into my disc management once in a while to clear off the ones i didnt download. And i have verifies that after all this if i go to the games page it just show download againninstead of buy in the xbl games page..

So iown pretty much every free game xbox has put up for games with gold, i just dont have them all downloaded...


So dont be picky trigger all those games....lol

My wantimg to own rayman is what prompted me to contact xbox support in the first place. See i already own tomb raider and i really wanted rayman, so my conversation with them started by my asking for the x360 version of rayman for360 instead of tomb raider since i still thought i couldnt trigger the x1 downloads without owning an x1, and so became the info that made start this post...lol
