To be honest, there hasn't really been an irrefutably good COD game since COD: World at War. COD has just been copying and pasting the same general ideas with a slight twist and an outrageous price tag for the last decade, but thanks to overly nostalgic fans and uneducated children, the franchise has grown much more out of control than it should have. While I don't exactly HATE the series and I don't think everyone who buys COD is an idiot, it's still irritating to me that the games haven't changed that much and yet everyone still buys them. I would say this with BF4, but it's gone from WWII to 100 somethin' years in the future to even a Cops and Robbers esque game, so I can't really say it hasn't at least tried to differentiate itself from it's predecessors.
I just find it funny how people hated Halo 5: Guardians right off the bat for it attempting to differentiate itself from itself from the other games, as they want it to stick to it's roots and never change. If it did that, it would turn into a slightly different version of COD. Anyways, I'll stop ranting now, have a good day everybody!
