Frig I'm so jealous! I've been wanting to go to NAMM and PASIC for so long now. You'll have to tell me how it is. If I recall they have a lot of really good musicians do live performances to demonstrate brands they endorse...are there any you know are going or plan on seeing? Hopefully next year I'll get to go.

actually dave mustaine, dave ellefson, marty friedman, and nick menza will all be there (the megadeth lineup that put out rust in peace, countdown to extinction, and youthanasia) chris poland will also be there (peace sells guitarist - i think). I'm going to take my rust in peace vinyl and get it signed by all of them. I also have pre-cowboys from hell vinyl i am going to take and get signed by vinnie paul and rex brown, gonna be fun, i can't wait

Yep, Gar died, and I thought Poland would be next for sure, but he still seems to be hanging in there. It will be interesting to see what kind of shape he is in. I guess I'm about to find out

I'm pretty fortunate that my boss is friends with David Lindley (Jackson Browne). He played here last night, and I hung out and talked to him after he played last night. He is the coolest guy ever and an amazing guitarist. He gave me his cell # and offered to let me tag along with him at the show. This amazing experience just got twice as amazing!

That's pretty awesome, I honestly hadn't heard of him so had to youtube him. I think maybe his music was a slight bit before my time (Born in '91). I enjoy it though, it's got some good mellowness to it, almost like reggae. I have heard from several musicians that the music industry is all about networking so I'm glad to see that you are taking full advantage of the opportunity. You'll have to let me know how that goes.

What always kept me inspired to learn to play guitar was the videos of people like Gilmour, and Van Halen, Hendrix and the like. I would constantly watch them just shred and how their fingers left people in amazement. These days, learning to play guitar is 10 times easier than days of the past, with things like our smart phones being able to have tuning apps, as well as virtual guitar lessons on youtube and such.

Today is the absolute best time to learn anything you ever wanted to learn.

Im not a great guitar player by any means, but I can strum around and know a few songs and solo's and it just makes you feel good to pick up a guitar and fret out, "Wish You Were Here." It's a good feeling. You too can achieve it if you believe you can.

Also, if you get through the finger pain, that's 70% of the battle, imo.
