Career-computer Science/ Information Systems Major/Path Help!

This has nothing to do with CAG but personal and this is about the computer science and informations systems career path. I am just looking for opinions

So, im on the fence on changing my major to Management Information Systems..I love computers and I did love accounting when I was in high school. My parents believe that it is a struggle job especially for women no matter what. Now if you have a career in IT, web design, information security, etc.

With accounting: I truly loved it in high school and today was alumni day and bringing it up made me think about changing again. Yes you make a lot of money, but not enjoying your job for the rest of your life, I think isn't worth it. I was forced to stay in Accounting from my parents because of high school.. My mom never went to college and my dad is a Cost Accounting Manager but did not major in Accounting but Business Admin... What really pissed me off is when my dad told me two things: that it isn't for caucasian or women...They say do whatever makes you happy but it doesn't seem that way.

I just want opinions if I should truly should change or what my parents are saying is best and just stay where I am at...College wise I will still be a junior next semester and it won't change really anything.(great thing about any business major)

Do what you love. If you're a paper chaser just go ahead and go with the path that pays the most money but, if not, go with the path that will bring you your dream job. Life will be a million times better for you and you'll be getting paid to do something you enjoy

Are you living with your parents or depending on them financially? If not do what you want and their opinions can come second to your dreams. YOUR life is about YOUR choices. Not others expectations. I know how hard it is to go a different path than what you're parents want but I did it and the past year has been the greatest in my life

I go away to school, but they are paying for half of my schooling..they are just worried I won't get a job or the field will die out

I've been in the IT industry for 20+ years now and in that time I've seen women who do it better then most of the people I've worked with and some who are average. I think what is important is doing what you actually enjoy then you will be great at it no matter if you are male or female or of any color.

What experience do you have in IT at this time? What about it do you enjoy doing? And can you see yourself doing it for 30 years or more?

I'm in college so I don't per say have "experience". I love computers and html and css..it came natural and fun to me..I can see myself doing it..It also helps me more when I got to the Navy instead of accounting...Now the thing about MIS apparently its too broad?(my dad saying this) and that I should be a double major.. He said accounting which is the major I would want to get out of :| but thinking about it MIS would ease my stress level from accounting...I always wanted to know more about computers and either go into the web design side or cyber security...both I think sound interesting and I can see myself doing. More about the experience I had a job offer to make a web site for $500 back in high school but the person who was the compromiser never sent emails back and/or talked to me, so they found someone else due to her mistake..(never had the companies' contact information).

I wouldn't go into an accounting field. It does not pay much (Just what some of my friends have told me that do it.)
