Good try Cheech but this didn't do anything. Guys are just putting more spaces or useless info in their welcome posts so they get post counts. I never have understood the obsession with post count. Post when you want to or when you have something to add to a thread. Who cares if you have 3000 posts and 2500 of them are welcome posts. The funniest part is they think they are fooling everyone and say they are actually posting to welcome new members to the site. Everyone knows they are just pumping their post count. Especially when 4 people have already welcomed the person to the site.

I understand the behaviour you are trying to curb and I would say up the character count even more so that these people look even more ridiculous and maybe we can get more quality posts.

I've seen officers and people with high rank do the same thing. I'll admit, I have a pretty decent welcome message for new people, but it hold a lot of good information within it. I agree with you though, but 200 is more than enough. imo.
