I know how it is cheech I used to code for phpbb and php it's hard and sometimes it don't come out right.

I think if we all help out and look at their profile it helps that's what I do with my spreadsheet for recruits we are working with its a pain but worth it..

You are not the only one to have suggested that Reaper about the different "boxes" for the applications ... yes it's possible ..do I have time to code that? No ... I am sure there is more than one way I could do that , but already the applications go to their respected forum where you can just go and look at the applications per game ...

As for the character count ... believe me I was trying to add that all last night and I fell asleep with this on my mind ... The problem here is that it is very difficult to make the script/code distinguish what is a "valid" character and what is not ... you have to keep in mind that some posts might contain bb code, images, smilies, emojis, characters like (.............) or (----------) which are used by a lot of members like "ME" lol ...

Right now a post of two sentences divided by two paragraphs "will" put you over 200 characters ... really one line has more than the 100 character threshold ..so actually 2 lines of text "will" put you over 200 easily ...

Good try Cheech but this didn't do anything. Guys are just putting more spaces or useless info in their welcome posts so they get post counts. I never have understood the obsession with post count. Post when you want to or when you have something to add to a thread. Who cares if you have 3000 posts and 2500 of them are welcome posts. The funniest part is they think they are fooling everyone and say they are actually posting to welcome new members to the site. Everyone knows they are just pumping their post count. Especially when 4 people have already welcomed the person to the site.

I understand the behaviour you are trying to curb and I would say up the character count even more so that these people look even more ridiculous and maybe we can get more quality posts.

Just my two cents but who cares if 30 people say welcome to the site. If they do, dont you think that just shows the new person that we are active and that we care they are here. I know for me that the people that said hello have become friends and if it wasent for such a reply I would have look elsewhere for a clan.

I agree. Although, I also agree with a minimum character count for the post to count, 200 characters is already a short-story haha

Don't get me wrong, I like that idea. But sometimes, people don't have 200 characters worth of conversation for a particular subject or thread.

I've seen officers and people with high rank do the same thing. I'll admit, I have a pretty decent welcome message for new people, but it hold a lot of good information within it. I agree with you though, but 200 is more than enough. imo.
