Make sure your open apps are closed to when your not using them.. For example if you go to youtube then go to messages then go to friends then go to your game the youtube, messages, friends list, are still open. Make sure to press the start button over the the things your are not using and you will see it says quit. Press quit to close them.
Not quitting out of these can slow your xbox one down tremendously and can lead to your xbox one home screen taking a shit.

I have never done this, because I thought it was a bit excessive, but if it prevents the home screen from doing that again, I am going to start doing it. Thanks for the tip!
