CAG Top 10 Posters of the Month: December

They only down side I see is quality of post. Its easy to run your numbers up just by saying welcome to CAG to new users. While its great to do it its not adding any quality. I'm all for a reward for being active and I look forward to trying for it.

i agree that there is a huge percentage of an individuals post count is irrelevant in terms of content and unfortunately something every forum active member is guilty of, that being said it is a necessity in greeting new members and promoting how active our forums are so in effect is a useful tool

Thankfully, advertisers and sponsors do not check for content in their consideration processes and tend to only focus on the total activity.

its small and pointless activity which leads to more quality posts/ threads. think of the greeting posts as kindling to a fire

What is the average post per month you would say? I think I am going to incorporate this into my donation thing. Get people more active!

Take a look at the "Top Posters of the Month" page and you can get the averages from there ....You can get the average of the top 10, top 20 top 5..what ever you want ...then you can see that 400-500 posts per month for the top 5 the last year has been a very consistent number of posts made by those who have been active this past year ...

Unless someone is a writer or just likes to take a part in every single discussion ... the average reply to a post or comment to a post is less than 2 sentences long ..... A simple welcome to the forums to a new recruit or new member says a lot even if its just those 4 words .... from those 4 words I have seen plenty of great conversations started between members on the forums ...

I have a feature that won't allow a post or reply to go through unless you have a certain amount of characters or words in the post or reply ... I have thought many times of enabling that feature but that would probably turn people off if you are required to make a "quality post" every time you post or reply to a thread or post ...

I have been a part of many forums and have moderated many forums as well in the past ...the one thing that I have noticed is that people don't like to be told that they need to have quality posts in order to be a part of any forum or that they need to have a minimum of posts to be a part of that forum ...

You give incentives for being active ... those that are interested in those incentives even if it's just coming away with the "top poster of the month" tittle will go for it and those that don't wont ...

In the last 2 months I have done a few things and added a few things to the forums that have raised the forum activity considerably ....

My question to all of this is..... there are some people that i never see online in games but there active on the forums. If someone wins and gets promoted thats fine and dandy but there are some people that SHOULD NOT be promoted. Wether it be lack of communication in game or just plain being a dumbass. Say they win top poster they should be promoted? Maybe they become more eligible to be promoted. But i can see this causing problems within all Companies.
