I know I'm fairly new here, but I have a question/suggestion. I see in this forum you have a thread talking about emoticons for chat, but I can't find chat anywhere? Do you guys still have that feature? The website I work for runs the same software as you guys for our forum, and we just got addon chat back, and it is awesome. An awesome function to have on sites like this for sure, but I know you do have to pay for it, and it can get kind of expensive. Just curious.

Most chats for vbulletin require you to host them on your own sites' server which is when it gets expensive because you would need a dedicated server which is about $25-$50 per month which is something we don't need to pay for just for a chat system ..
If people donated for a chat system and the dedicated server every month I would go ahead and add one, but I would need to know for sure that every month we would get at least $50 in donations to cover the hosting just for the chat system alone ... to maintain both the forums, the site and the chat would be around $100-$200 per month in hosting .....
I think the site works quite well without the chat bar that we did have.dont get me wrong I liked the fact that it was quick and easy to talk but there where issue with it slowing the site down with loading times and what not.
My point is - leave the site how it is now without the chat bar and not experience the slowness and above all the expenses to run it on site or have the chat with it causing the the site to run or load a tad slower and have to pay more expensinses for this.
Honestly it seems like a straight forward thing to decide upon.

Ok, I was just curious what the chat situation was, seeing that "sticky" post about chat made me wonder if it was here, and I just couldn't find it. I agree, the site is great, and if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah and not having the chat bar is actually making the forum activity go up now more ... I am actually looking into adding a few extra "goodies" to the site in the next few weeks... I think you guys will like the new little changes and additions coming soon ... I will not give hints about what might be coming because it is going to take some work on my part and i don't want to say I am adding something and I don't ...so in time you guys will see some subtle changes here and there ... ..MUAHAHAHAHA !!!!

Ok you guys, I added a chatbox to the roster, calendar and xbox live leaderboard pages .... If you guys want to use it and check it out just click on the links for either of those pages and you guys will see it right away ...

Messages on this chat will be deleted after 72 hours automatically, it has a refresh time of 90 seconds to help avoid server overloads... please use the chat with respect!!!
Do not refresh those pages yourselves as that will cause server overloads, like I said, the chat will refresh itself every 90 seconds so you guys might see other peoples posts come in a little late but that will keep server overloads down ...
