What is the ideal level? I'm 24 at the moment...

I would say shoot for 28. I felt a bit weak and soft at 27, doable but more frustrating. You should try to have a legendary primary that it as upgraded as possible and a void spec/heavy weapon or void subclass in order to take down Praetorians' and Minotaurs' shields. "The Comedian", a void shotgun, served me well until I got Atheon's Epilogue (a void auto rifle that drops in the raid).

IIRC, your main character is a hunter. Most hunters I've seen use the Gunslinger subclass in the raid.

I did VOG at 27 but everyone was same level or higher yeah we died a few times but it wasnt that hard at all really.

Just get to 26 and I'll find some people who are willing to carry you and we will do it I know your dieing to do it. I was until I did it. So I know how it feels plus that will help you with shards which your getting close to the point you need them to upgrade your armor to get closer to 30!!!
