Bungie Posted Some Stats..1 Million Deaths To Date
Bungie’s Weekly Updates were always a huge hit during the company’s Halo days, and they look to continue into their run with Destiny. This week’s update reveals a ton of stats from the first full week players have been able to enjoy Destiny. They include over a billion player deaths and more activities than half a million NFL seasons. Check out the stats that Bungie provided below, but these are only the beginning so expect more in future updates.
100 Million Hours Played – Enough to watch the entirety of The Lord of the Rings trilogy 8,797,653 times. And yes, we are talking about the Special Extended Editions.
137 Million Activities Played – The equivalent of 535,156 regular seasons of the NFL. (Our European fans may know it as “American Handegg.”)
(note: one Crucible match would be considered a single activity, even though it may feature 12 unique players)
The Average Gameplay Session lasts about 3 hours. On weekdays. On weekends it turns out you have some extra time to kill, raising the average up to more than 4 hours per session.

All of these stats are just from the first seven days after launch, so they are truly impressive. Combine this with the fact that Destiny has generated over $325 million in revenue, making it the best-selling new video game franchise of all time, and there is no doubt that Bungie is pretty happy with how the launch went.
The update closed with the typical Q&A session. Unfortunately Bungie is remaining fairly tight lipped about upcoming Destiny news, but a few interesting tidbits made it out. First up Bungie says that The Tower will be expanding soon, hinting that it will hit with The Queen’s Wrath special event which begins soon. They also admit that they are always looking at weapon balancing and the PvP reward system for necessary changes. No immediate alterations seem to be planned, but Bungie is ready if they feel they are needed.
