First of all, I am a Bengals fan. I have rooted for them since I can remember, and even more so in the last 4 attempts at a playoff win. It's frustrating to see your team out there plagued by injuries, especially when you know it's going to be a long time until the next regular season. I won't make excuses for the Bengals, as they played hard, but ended up getting the 'L.'
The Patriots game was a great one. Flacco is a truly great QB, but Tom Brady has proven year after year that he can perform miracles and have Lazarus come forth, even with a sub-par team of wide outs and running backs. I thought for sure Flacco would keep his team ahead, but the Patriots did what they do, especially what they've become familiar with doing in the Belichik/Brady era. They've been to 5 super bowls, and I think that maybe this year, they will win their 4th. The Pats are just a team to be reckoned with, especially while Belichik and Tom Brady know that Brady is nearing the end of his career.
I think the Colts will give them a very hard time, come next Sunday when they battle it out in the AFC Championship. Luck is one of the greatest post-season QB's in recent times, as far as the numbers he puts up. Nevertheless, he is going to be facing Tom Brady, perhaps the best QB in the post-season to ever play the game. When it comes right down to it, I think the Patriots will edge out the Colts and go to their 6th Super Bowl since 2001.
Peyton Manning was struggling with his accuracy in the game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. He was overthrowing receivers, when he can usually make those passes. Peyton Manning, possibly the greatest QB to ever play the game, is notorious for not being very sharp when it comes to the post-season, alas, which is the reason he's only won one Super Bowl. Since my Bengals were eliminated, I started rooting for Peyton to come alive and perhaps get a 3rd appearance in this Super Bowl, as we all know he is getting up there in age, and maybe has 3-4 good years left in him. I try to be realistic, but remain hopeful that he will win another Championship before he hangs up his cleats for good.
The Colts just outplayed the Bronco's on Sunday, and you could tell the game was going to be a tough one when Demaryius Thomas was struggling to bring in fundamental passes thrown to him by Peyton, and I knew that from then on, it was going to be a toss-up between who could actually score, and who's defense was going to prevail and remain unscathed.
I think we all know what happened in the Seattle v.s. Carolina game; HC DOM. Russell Wilson is a force that is seemingly unstoppable when it's crunch time. The Seahawks have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and it shows when Richard Sherman is being his old, 'Ball Hawk' self. I find it interesting that Seattle has won the Super Bowl last year in a great fashion, and this year, they have another fine chance of repeating, or at least making it to the 'Big Show.'
All in all, I feel that the Super Bowl will be The Green Bay Packers v.s. The New England Patriots.
I predict this only because Aaron Rodgers will be able to be a lot more mobile in the NFC Championship, as he will have some time to heal that calf strain. He can surgically assault any team from the pocket, as well as extend plays when he is able to move on his feet. On the other hand, Russell Wilson is one of the best in the NFL at extending plays and making smart decisions to get the 'W' when it counts; both QB's know what time it is.
Tom Brady is going to be against the Colts, but I think Andrew Luck will find a way to lose it for them. Tom Brady is too hungry for another ring before he retires in a few years. He knows how few and far between a Championship is to win, especially after they let their perfect season slip away to the hands of the New York Giants a few years back. I think Revis will lock down T.Y. Hilton and leave Andrew Luck with one less threat to work with.
From the mind of a mad man, I look forward to the next few weeks that we have left of this NFL Season.
I hope you end up watching history unfold........
