Yep from what I hear there is a lvl 20 cap unless you buy expansion packs and I dont know if I wanna waste money on a game you got to keep paying for

Well I got two with the game so I should be ok for awhile .

Yes there is a level cap at level 20 but it is still possible to level up beyond 20. When you reach level 20 you have the chance to find armor that has light to it. Each armor piece has a set amount of light. The more light you get the higher your level. Also at level 18 you unlock strike missions which are basically bossfights. Some are challenging while others are pretty easy. With each mission you are able to earn vanguard points which allow you to unlock high level armor and Weapons.
For the crucible there are 4 game types I only have 3 unlocked as of now. Control ( domination ) Clash ( team death match ) and Rumble ( free for all ) The crucible relies heavily on teamwork. Gunfights are hard to win in a 2v1 or 1v3 so running with a teammate helps a lot. Also as you level up you gain better weapons and armor. Yes its supposed to be balanced but it isn't really. I was on a team with another level 22 and we just mowed down the other team since they were all level 10's and such our guns could fire faster then theirs and our skill tree's helped even more.
As stated about the vanguard points you earn crucible points kinda in the same manor. At level 18 you can start to rank up within 3 different factions ( FWC , New high Monarchy and the dead orbit ( my faction ) To first rank up you need to buy the class item required for class you picked ( titan warlock or hunter )
The best thing of all is the story the story line is amazing and really fun and a challenge in some parts. Also each day you get bounties which are challenges you can complete for some good xp and rep within the game. And finally once you max out a class you can create another character with a different class so you have all 3 classes and can use them when you feel like it
