EA Sports has announced that while the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of NHL 15 will boast the usual full suite of game modes, the Xbox One and PS4 iterations of the ice hockey title will be missing the EA Sports Hockey League mode (EASHL). The reason being that EA Sports wanted to focus on delivering a "truly next-generation gameplay and presentation experience" for Xbox One and PS4.
"When we finished NHL 14 late last year, we moved our focus to bringing NHL 15 to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4," writes NHL 15's Producer, Sean Ramjagsingh on the EA Sports website. "Our goal from Day One was to build from the core out and deliver a truly next-generation gameplay and presentation experience for all our fans to enjoy."
Here are the modes that will feature in NHL 15 on Xbox One and PS4:

Be A Pro
Be A GM
Online Versus
Hockey Ultimate Team
NHL Moments Live
You'll also notice that Online Team Play is also not available for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of NHL 15, although "significant content updates" are promised for the game on new-gen consoles, as EA Sports looks to "optimises the gameplay experience" in the months following NHL 15's launch. Online Team Play will be among the additions to be rolled out as part of EA Sports' 'NHL 15 content update program'. Adding EASHL will not be a part of these plans.
"Decisions like this are never easy, nor do we take them lightly," Ramjagsingh adds. "We know that there is a passionate group of fans that loves these modes and is no doubt disappointed with this news; but we also know that this same group of fans expects a high quality gameplay experience above anything else. We’re a franchise built on quality, so launching these modes without confidence in their quality wasn’t something that we were willing to do."
NHL 15 will be out on September 9th.
