My boss at the Gym was let go the other day, which leaves me in limbo bc she was one of my main supporters in pushing me for my promotion to director of operations. So now I'm stuck right now with two BRAND NEW people to train and no superior of my own (pardoning the owner and director of operations at the other location).

I found out today that the owner has approached another person (someone who we have stuck through thick and thin when shit hits the fan) here about the position... I'm the one who sacrifices and does EVERYTHING asked of me and more. I am what is BEST FOR BUSINESS, and I may flip shit if not considered.

Go talk to them yourself Gym! Do stay on the sidelines and let someone steal your shit. Make your voice heard man! Tell em' why your better and what you've done to progress the company as well as how things will get better when you in charge.

I think I'll never understand the American system of "promotions". Over here we usually have very flat organisations. It's unusual for someone to get promoted to a management position, a manager/boss/whatever is usually hired. Maybe it's because we're so heavily unionised over here. We get pay raises on a yearly basis, with a minimum level set in stone, possibly more if we've shown dedication and/or important skills, but we don't "rank up" so to speak. Could someone explain how that works in the US?

In the US promotions are hit or miss, anyone that comes in to another company with any kind of management experience "may be considered" for a management job and it's not so much if they are the right person or the best person for the job either ... It is usually the person who is willing to do the most for less in return ....

I was a manager for 2 different storage facilities and both times I was fucked over ... the last time I actually trained the Manager as an Assistant Manager myself and then was let go after I trained her ...

Businesses are scared to take chances on people, they don't look at how dedicated people who really work hard are, all they worry about is a damn degree, extensive experience but not hard work in the resumes and it is very disappointing ... I used to work for a staffing agency and I was always told to put the people with degrees and experience at the top of the piles, if someone had 9 years of warehouse experience and held a supervisor's position I couldn't even consider them until I talked to the person with a fucking degree who never even touched a fucking pallet jack or even shrink wrap !!!

U should ask for an appointment to discuss the position, when u get the appointment go to it and ask him if your being considered and continue to explain to him y ur right for the position, if ur show u want it and prove wat u got he will give it to u no doubt

Degrees don't mean jack to this generation. So many have worked so hard to get a degree, just to flip burgers and batch up fries. Im disappointed as shit I worked so hard for mine, and there's absolutely no work for it. None. I wad told it was the best thing for my "future". Man, fuck, it was for theirs, because they got a commission to sign me into the classes...



Rant over. I made my own business. I literally built the fuckin building I work in, and let me tell you, while I scrape by, I'm the happiest motherfucker for it.

Get your "boss" to sit with you and talk about what you and your person were goin for. You had eyes on it, you had plans for it, you were the candidate. Just don't go Manchurian on him.
