Sorry that I sound like a jerk on this one but that's the risk you take when you buy a system early in the production cycle. If you can't return it because you lost the receipt and can't send it back to Microsoft there is a third option. Buy a new one and swap out your old one with it. Then return it for a full refund. The initial cost is a lot but you get your money back. I wouldn't have any love lost for the store either. Once they find out it's defective, hopefully long after you've returned it, they'll return it.
