After hearing some girl rant in in a Lobby about how we should show her respect it made me want to past this lil tidbit of info to the younger generation. Respect us EARNED not GIVEN.

I always say this, a person than can "command" respect is 100 times better than a person who "demands" respect. When a person is a true leader, a mature adult and understands respect, that adult "commands" it and people see that right away. Demanding respect is done by displaying aggression and making others fear you or dislike you. Not the way you earn true respect.

If she was a true female gamer, she'd know how to make comebacks well enough that she'd shut a man down and earn her keeps, not have to ask for them. I can't even count how many times I've heard a man tell me "You belong in the kitchen not on xbox" & it never bothers me cause I'll just say how I feel right back. As a female gamer you should be prepared for the slander and taunting, because in reality it is a man's hobby, I just happen to be better at it and enjoy it more than most men. && a real woman can multitask in the kitchen && in gaming. LMAO

I hear that. During my time as a clan co-leader I learned that many times, in order to keep order and discipline and keep things running smoothly, it's better to be Respected and not Liked than be Liked and not Respected. As a leader you can still have friends, but your responsibilities to your clan and yourself come before any requests or whatever from your friends. It's just how it works. Do your job first, then recreation can come after.

As Spartan stated respect is earned not given. With one exception, your kids. No one should be demanding respect from anyone else.

To be fair, a lot of female gamers deal with ridiculous amounts of shit for no reason other than our voices are higher pitched. And to say we should just be prepared to deal with it is like saying it's ok for them to act like that. HOWEVER: anyone who's played with me knows I'm always good for a comeback.
