I'm new to photoshop ( thanks again cheech) and I can't figure out how to change the size of an image I copy and paste from google without changing the size of everything else?

I'm new to photoshop ( thanks again cheech) and I can't figure out how to change the size of an image I copy and paste from google without changing the size of everything else?
Select tool. Typically the arrow pointer looking thing. One you have that selected. There should be a checkbox at the top that says transform controls(I think). Check it and you can resize single layers. Let me know if that helps
