I always thought Metallica should have booted Ulrich instead of Mustaine. Ulrich has no groove, wheras even Mustaines drummers sound similarly tight to modern day metal drummers.

Oh well if that happened we wouldn't have Megadeth.

yeah it worked out for the better. 2 amazing bands.

Mustaine was really tough to work with before he got clean and sober.

as far as the musicians he assembled he always made sure they were very talented. the first drummer was Gar Sammuelson who was a traditional jazz style drummer oddly enough.

they are both good bands. in high school i got heavily into both and i never understood the people who thought you had to be fan of one and dislike the other.

Who the fuck cares if Mustaine and Hetfield/ulrich were assholes to each other. Good music is good music. I currently have the best of both of those on my ipod.

yeah i used to be under that impression for some reason. boy did they make everyone look like retards once they made up and toured lol.

i personally feel like Megadeth won the battle. Metallica started making shitty music in 91 and Megadeth released 3-4 more amazing albums after Black Album including their masterpiece, Rust in Peace.

Agreed. The fact that the bands histories are intertwined like that is so unique and interesting.

I am a drummer myself and I love Metallica, used to idolize Ulrich. I still carry 53 songs of theirs around on my phone. Only ever got into about a album worth of songs of Megadeth, but I always appreciated the crazy talented drummers.
