    Got the bolster fit, made from Ebony, the Damascus guard is normalizing in an ash bed to get the metal soft enough to mill a slot and do file work and actually finish this century.

    Test dipping the guard after filing in the slot, yes by hand.

    I test dip before filework and grain refinement/hardening to allow the filework to work with the pattern and cut in easily.
