Xb1 Ignorance

Forgive me for my ignorant questions and thought process here but here goes.

When next gen consoles were first announced xb1 had some pretty big turn offs attached to it... The need to instal all games and limits on disk trading (though this was rectified shortly after) the always on feature and the requirement of having kinect plugged in at all times. The notion that xb1 will constantly be watching to make advertising campaigns more effective on the dashboard etc

Then of course the hefty price tag

What made those of you that have an xb1 stick with the Microsoft brand through all these flaws when so many other console players switched to ps4? And are these flaws an issue at all?

All my friends have one! Plus they changed a lot of things that were pushing me towards a PS4! There are still some flaws with party chat, friends not showing up when they sign on and other minor things. But I feel I've made a good choice!

I don't think these are flaws at all.

The price was a little of a pill to swallow but all the other things you mention are not applicable.

You don't have to have the kinect plugged in, you don't have to have it always online.

The reason i got it is because i have a lot of people on XBL that i know, the AAA titles exclusivity to the Xbox is another, but basically aside from that i don't think you can go wrong with either system. they both offer some beautiful gaming experiences.

I always stuck with Microsoft because the games lineup (dead rising 3, forza 5, halo, Titanfall) were more appealing to me.

Plus, you don't 'need' Kinect but it helps if you want to get the most out of your next gen console.

The always on feature is not an issue now but more an option you can choose...ie, instant on mode will update everything for you on its own, whereas power saving mode will be more like legacy consoles.

Yes...the installation thing can be a pain but if it's a digital download then it is so very convenient as there is no need for physical discs. Additionally, support for external hard drives is coming in a future update.

Advertising? Not seen anything like that...

The price has also come down dramatically...Tesco are selling the Titanfall edition now for £349.99 and that is with 12 months xbox live.

The box itself is excellent and it is awesome at what it does. I myself am very pleased with mine and I'm glad I bought one.

My wife is even impressed with it because I did everything I asked it to just using my voice. You need to understand...my wife is not easily impressed.
