ok fellas this is going to be our directive for in game play within Alpha Squad and things will be teaching/stressing
to new recruits once their marksman is complete.
quick glossary of terminology which will be used
Gimme's/Gimme Flags - flags closest to our home base, usually 2 but sometimes 1.
Back Cap/Capped - when the enemy team has our gimme flags captured.
1. In Game Communications
first and foremost, the ideal situation is no chatter so it is easy to communicate and callout key things. i know it isn't always
easy to keep away from mini-conversations related to what just happened or why we didn't make a revive so "little to no chatter" is acceptable.
1a. Callouts
some people don't make callouts because they are new and still uncomfortable or shy. others simply don't know what to callout.
you always want to call out where the person is who just killed you especially if your with other squad mates. if he is at 25% of below health say "Medic/Support/Engi/Recon got me, he is weak, rush him, (insert position). other things you want to callout are vehicle positions and where they are heading, pesky snipers and mortar positions. if we are back capped call it out if no one notices.
2. Mini Map Awareness/Big Map Quick Peeks
we want to make sure that guys are looking at their mini-maps as often as possible. the ideal time is between reloads and when moving between objectives. also, when you are in a vehicle you should be glancing at your big map between engagements. we need to make sure everyone knows how to access the big map and is looking at it frequently.
3. Squad Play
there is a purpose of being in a squad and that is to help and support one and another whether it is ammo, revives or health. we should stick together 80% of the time. there are certain exceptions but if i'm and B flag on Lockers and need ammo and your back at D flag it doesn't do either of us any good. we should also make sure we aren't all running the same class. usually a quick "what class are you going to run" between rounds is a solution to this problem. Conquest mode can be a exception but i also feel like we all could benefit from having a more balanced squad that sticks together at times.
3a. Squad Wipe Awareness
this is something we collectively need to pay more attention to, myself included. if your the last man alive run and hide until all squad members spawn in. earning those fancy squad upgrades are great but if we cannot maintain them there is no purpose for having them.
3b. Spawning on Teammates working the Back Cap
when a player is attempting to back cap or needs help at an objective IMMEDIATELY redeploy and spawn in on that person. if your the person waiting for people to spawn in on you FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BE IN GOOD POSITION! don't be waiting for everyone to spawn in on you and then engage an enemy or try to cap an objective as that will alert any enemy in the area to come and push your shit back and collectively every person who spawns in on you.
4. Back Capping and Recapping our Teams Gimmes
on infantry based maps like Lockers and Metro, our tactic at the beginning of the round will be to back cap the enemy team. once
the enemy team starts spreading out and falling back we will go back, get C (Lockers) or B (Metro) and defend. we also all need to be aware of when our team is back capped and we should all be going back to get those flags back.
for now this is all that i have. there may be more things added to this in the future but i feel that if we can focus on these few key things we will be a better, well rounded squad more capable of dominating the battlefield.
under my leadership, Alpha Squad will utilize all of this. we will be a no non-sense, squad and team oriented unit. i like to have fun just as much as the next guy but my definition of BF4 fun is winning and shitting all over the other team. that's how i have fun.
i need and read and understood from both Emperor and Alpha as soon as possible. if either of you have any input or suggestions i would love to hear them during the Fireteam Leader meeting.
