There seems to be a lot of confusion out there so I wanted to try and help recruits and those helping recruits to have a clearer understanding of how things have changed recently. I will give my understanding of how it works and hope that if I get something wrong Brotal / Cheech / others will correct me. The following is for Battlefield recruits.
Most current members did not go through parts of the new process so please pay attention.
Application Phase
1. User registers on the forums (forum name is white)
2. User applies to CAG (forum name is pink)
3. A BF officer/recruiter responds to the application with instructions for the recruit, including XBL names of leaders for them to add
- At this point, many applications seem to quite as they never send out messages/friend requests
4. The user is encouraged by the response to their application to introduce themselves on the forums
- This will help them to find other members to play with and hopefully get them more comfortable with participating in the forums
Marksman / Probation Phase
4. The recruit should be getting into games with CAG members and working on their Marksman
- The recruit may join members parties/games and members may invite the recruit to parties/games
5. The recruit posts their Marksman games in their Marksman thread (as detailed in the response to their application)
- The recruit should also start participating in the forums, per the clan requirement, that they agreed to in the application
- Marksman threads should be posted in the BF3 Marksman forum ... https://www.cagclan.com/community/fo...n-(97-1516)VSa
6. The recruit has 14 days to complete their Marksman AND must show forum activity of at least 2 or 3 times per week.
- If not completed in the allotted time, their application is essentially denied. If they choose to increase their resolve to be part of CAG, they should resubmit an application and start their Marksman over. It is not guaranteed that they will be allowed to do so.
7. Upon completion of the 14 day probation time, a member will need to recommend them for their Marksman badge and Dogg ribbon. Whoever does, should post that they have done this within the recruits' Marksman thread so that it is not requested multiple times.
- The Marksman badge and Dogg ribbon, along with other awards, may take some time to be awarded, perhaps days or a week. If more time than that has passed, then bring it to the attention of one of your Battlefield officers and we'll inquire about it.
I have heard that you cannot request an award unless you have received your Dogg ribbon. This means that no one can work on their awards until after the 14 days, including Rifleman, Sharpshooter, and Expert. I know this is new and may seem harsh but that's how I understand it.
Awards
I also want to go over my understanding of the prerequisites for awards. All awards require you to have your Marksman badge and Dogg ribbon first. https://www.cagclan.com/community/awards. Also, awards require another full CAG member to be present in the games relevant for that award. These games also need a battlelog link; the only exception is for the Marksman badge if the recruit has an acceptable reason for not being able to acquire and post the links. It is my understanding that any member can confirm these games, regardless of whether they were in the game or not, by looking at the battlelog details and verifying that the requirements were met and that other CAG members were present (though I have read conflicting instruction from other Battlefield leaders, that those who were there need to confirm). All award threads should be posted in the BF3 Awards & Medals forum ... https://www.cagclan.com/community/fo...-(167-1518)VSa.
Sharpshooter/Expert
The most important awards for ranking up are Sharpshooter and Expert, per the Chain of Command https://www.cagclan.com/recruiting/chain-of-command. Here is the order you must follow to complete your Expert. Yes, we have changed the Rifleman award and inserted it into the Expert chain.
Marksman (250 kills) -> Dogg (30 day probation) -> Rifleman (300 kills) -> Sharpshooter (600 kills) -> Expert (1200 kills)
Battlefield Specific
There is a section in the awards that are Battlefield specific ... "Awards given to members of CAG on BF3". Disregard the BF3, as they should be relevant for both BF3 and BF4. We have reworded these award descriptions and they should be clear enough to understand how to verify that they were achieved. Each of these awards, except perhaps the Special Forces, requires you to track your progress in a thread. When you request that award, include a link to that single thread in the description of the request.
Here are the requirement chains for these awards. Remember, you must have the Dogg ribbon first for all of them.
C.I.B. (this is optional, but some people have tracked different gun types in different threads, such as C.I.B. Assault, C.I.B. Sniper Rifle, etc, then when finished created one thread with links to those threads)
BF3 Rifleman (see the Sharpshooter/Expert section above). I thought Conquest kills were also allowed for the Rifleman but the description does not say that. I may need to get clarification.
Mechanic -> Expert Mechanic
Medic -> Expert Medic
Anti Tank -> Expert Anti Tank
Ace -> Expert Ace
Armor -> Expert Armor
BOOM Headshot
Hand to Hand -> Expert Hand to Hand
C.I.B. AND Expert Mechanic AND Expert Medic AND Expert Anti Tank AND Expert Ace AND Expert Armor AND BOOM Headshot AND Expert Hand to Hand -> Special Forces
Other Awards
There are other awards in the awards section which may be achieved and others which cannot be achieved within Battlefield. Obviously, there are no riot shields so those do not apply. Grenadier is something we don't think we can verify with battlelog so we don't feel confident that we can create requirements for these. We are working on wording for the Pistol specific ones and are brainstorming about the Sniper specific ones. For some, such as the CAG Quarter Pounder Award Medal, you should inquire with officers. There are some tricky requirements to these that do not suit Battlefield well and extra direction may be required.
