Not anymore, trains are by far one of the best I guess you can call it MPG transportation.

You can haul a train from Philadelphia to New York with less than 2 liters of fuel.

Also another good fuel source I see a lot of companies switching to is Natural gas cars/trucks. Shipping yard in Phila just switched to NG.

that's why it will never happen. big oil is making far to much money for things that should happen and be used to be put into effect.

there's wind, solar, tidal, wave and also something called geothermal energy. none of which pollute. some of these have been around for decades but are sparsely used because oil is big business. they have lots of people on payroll strictly to disprove these methods or raise a doubt or fear about them so they can continue to make billions.

natural gas isn't the answer. fracture drilling creates tons of waste and if it isn't handled or disposed of properly can badly damage the local ecosystem.

there's a documentary call "Gasland", check it out. natural gas has been coming on in areas of North and Northeast PA. in an area not to far from me, maybe and hour?, the fracking done a mile or two from a persons house has made the drinking water pure flammable poison. they literally turned on the tap, filled a glass and lit it on fire.

I think you have seen the commercial where it states that a train can haul a 1000 lbs of fright 100 miles on a gallon of diesel . Yes right sounds good . Ok its time to read between the lines . One locomotive can weigh upwards of 60 tons . Lets now put the whole train into there 40 cars to the train times 30 tons per car . You see where I'm going with this .

Yes train are still one of the best and most efficient ways to haul fright and a lot of them are being converted to natural gas or LP .

Yes I've seen this also I think there is a good movie out starring Matt Damon about that it's all about fracking for natural gas
