Ak-12 Or Aek-971 Assault Rifle

Hey chaps,

I generally play as assault...always have...and with BF3, I used the AEK assault rifle and loved it.

I am due to unlock it for BF4..but the only base difference I can see is the RoF in favour of the AEK. The AK-12 is a superb rifle for a starter, I'm using a muzzle break with an angled foregrip.

Is it worth switching to my old favourite? Has it been nerfed? Or should I hold out and work toward one of the ACE rifles?

Any knowledge, advice would be gratefully received.

Best advice I can give is try both mate, see what yah fancy.

That is indeed an option...I've nearly unlocked all for the AK, but wasn't sure whether to stick with that.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter...as long as it goes boom-schlup!

The aces have power but fire rate 100-200 slower than others so it depends on how the user plays. I'm support and I use ace 21cqb it's the weakest ace gun and weaker than some other guns but I love how smooth it is with accuracy fire rate and recoil. It takes about four shots to kill

I advice you to use both, dont lock yourself to only one weapon!
both are great but the ak12 has less recoil and the aek971 has higher rate of fire, so the ak12 is better for long range and the aek971 is better for cqc

Haven't used the AK-12 much (or since the game first released). Have almost 300 kills with the AEK, which I also used a lot in BF3. I feel it's still very good and it is one of my goto weapons for cqc, along with the famas.

In BF4, I find that most weapons are a pain until you unlock and equip certain attachments that fit either your play style or one appropriate for the gun.

As an example, BF3 taught me to burst fire because, for me at least, it was more accurate and I dropped people faster. I even burst fire LMGs unless the enemy is in my face ... so unlocking the Angled Grip (reduces first shot recoil by 33%) is huge for my play style because each burst gets that reduction. I put that grip on my RPK-12 (LMG) last night and I instantly saw the difference. [I'm not saying that I put the Angled grip on the AEK because it doesn't fit the gun's style, recommend the Stubby].

On a side note, I highly recommend a suppressor with an LMG if you aren't going to sit and bipod. LMGs just aren't good enough to win even gun fights with most weapons unless you get the jump on people. The suppressors gives you more time to put bullets into them as they take longer to identify where you are and it keeps their buddies from seeing you on the mini-map and demolishing you. So often, I was getting a kill then overwhelmed by enemies, now I survive.
