Xbox Problem?????

For the last 3/4 months iv had a really annoying ongoing problem with my xbox 360.the prob basically is that it has a prob with the discs.when I first turn my xbox on by pressing the power button on the front of the xbox and it reaches the dashboard,where it should show the game icon that is in the disc tray it's just says play game and when I select this it gives me a message saying that the disc is unrecognised but this cannot be as it happens on every game disc I try to play and even the most recent game I bought (bf4) on Friday the same thing happens.i know for fact that it's not a game issue with scratches or region for that matter.
i cleared the cache on my xbox to have no luck but what I have noticed is that once I remove the latest update and it reinstalls it that it seems to load every game fine that is until the next time I turn my xbox on again.the xbox I have is the xbox 360E model and it is only a 1 year and 9 months old so this shit to me shouldn't be happening.
has anyone ever had an issue like this??? Any help at all would def be much appreciated as it's getting close to Christmas and I can really afford to splash out.

Have you tried xbox support maybe they might be able to help. I would go to http://support.xbox.com or go twitter @xboxsupport . I hope they can help you with your problem

you need to call xbox at 800-4my-xbox. And get with Troubleshooting. Tell them what you 360 is doing.

Yes I done all this last night only for them to basically tell me in not so many words that they hadn't a clue and to send it for repairs.i also asked them if a console that is only a year and 9 months old should be doing this and their comment was and I quote :- I'm sorry but we can not speculate. Let's say I wasn't happy as the never have provided me with what their name says support.they'll not be getting a damn £64 repair charge outta me because of their shitty workmanship

Im having this problem too, I just open the tray, close it again and then it usually works. sometimes it doesnt and then I reboot the xbox and if that doesnt help I just give up

Mine does that sometimes. Or it says disc is dirty. Even tho I never take it out of Xbox..

When I do change game's. I have to smack my Xbox for the disc drive to open... Wtf

it sounds like the laser in the disk drive is dirty or could be going out I had this problem on an old xbox

I install the games I play the most to the disk drive as this keeps the disk from spinning continuously while I play

if the drive spins continuously that shortens the life of the drive

by installing the game to the HDD the game spins at start of game to read the code in the game to verify it is real then stops spinning as the game runs off the HDD

I install a lot of my games as well it works fine one min then not the next.could maybe try cleaning the laser.whats the best method for this without havening to open it up though??

My kid has the old xbox that does that with the tray lol we have to do the same thing

Im having this problem too, I just open the tray, close it again and then it usually works. sometimes it doesnt and then I reboot the xbox and if that doesnt help I just give up

That's exactly what I done last night.i gave up fighting with it.it sounds like a common problem
