Ah yeah randpOOpen' ... the media is evil man and most of them don't care at all about the damage they inflict with their bs stories just so that they "individually" are recognized and garnish attention from the "people".

I used to watch Bill O'Reily religiously in the early 90s , from 1990 to around 1995 or so, then all of the sudden this motherfucker just turned into the biggest asshole on tv.

I don't care for the news anymore, if there is anything I want to know about I can look it up myself and draw my own conclusions afterwards.

I will put my two cents in here. I was in Boot Camp on 9/11. The attacks weren't why I enlisted. I enlisted because I wanted to, because it's a great thing to do. It's an honor to wear the uniform and a sense of pride very few will ever experience.

Though 9/11 is a day of remembrance of the attacks, having deployed in support of OEF/OIF/OIJ, it's also a day of remembrance for those lost in combat overseas in efforts that followed.

I say this because the #1 reason for enlistment, at least from what I experienced, was that dreadful day. Being in the fleet and seeing some of these new Marines come in, I would ask them why they enlisted and that was the top response. "Because of 9/11." Or something very similar. Looking at it this way, I look at it as one single event. Has that day never occurred, most of those, some of which were lost, would have never enlisted and wouldn't have been put in the position they were.

Yes, the war has been ongoing since before. But if I recall correctly, the original war efforts that follow were for Saddam, not Bin Laden. We deployed in support of the initial Baghdad invasion in 03 and again to Al Asad and Fallujah in 05/06. Once Saddam was taken care of, we moved on. That's when the efforts directly related to 9/11 started, imo. I can't say that there is no correlation between 9/11 and the deployments. I deployed and that's what I thought about all the time.

We attempted, and are still attempting, to fight a religious war. These guys have been at each other's throats for thousands of years. It'll never be over. It's a position we don't need to be in, but we are there anyways because we have to clean up everyone's messes.

Just my two cents, probably all strung together, I've got a migraine..
