Regular sniping isn't that bad ... you just can't run around like you have a shotgun or SMG.

I'll still buy it and play it
I won't be buying it
I could care less
This will be the forums for the new Call of Duty Ghosts to be released soon.
I think that was kind of the essence behind the latest sniper patch. Even though it was such a small increase in the time you had to wait before sprinting to scope in, the time it took for the DSR/Ballista to scope in, it made a difference. Sniping did become less prevalent.
If IW went through and made some of the other changes you mentioned, it would bring it too close to another FPS Series that I won't mention because that debate isn't a feasible one. COD is an arcade style, FPS. Always has been. The fact that I can be more effective with a sniper rifle, whether I'm running, prone, crouched or standing on my head, shouldn't matter. When I snipe the number one thing that I hate is other snipers. I don't like to be sniped. So I change my play style. I play more cautious. I look for shots that I don't typically look for. I adapt and overcome.
I don't think that Drag Scoping is a product of aim-assist. The time it takes aim-assist to kick in is typically longer than most of the Drag shots I attempt. Drag-Scoping is a, and I dare to say it, 'quicker' version of Hard Scoping. If you watch many sniper game plays, and I don't know if you do, you'll see comments about that shot was too long to be a DS, you Hard Scoped, or all you do is Hard Scope you can't even DS right.
YEW IZ BAD SNIPERZ. Y U NO QUIKSKOPEZ?
Basically, if I want to hone my shot into a sniping shot, that's my preference. If I don't I wont, but the option should be there. It shouldn't be removed completely just because it makes people angry. if that's the case you would have to take Shotguns, Automatic Pistols, C4, Bouncing Bettys, Shock Charges and anything else that one might deem OP out.

I definitely don't want to get into or ever intended a comparison conversation. Honestly, for whatever reason, Bad Company/Battlefield was never on my radar until BF3 was about to come out. Literally, I didn't know it existed. I've probably played almost every COD (not World at War for sure). So, my dislike for quickscoping came before I knew the BF series existed.
I do get upset when I get quickscoped, no doubt. But the reason I dislike it so much is because I've never believed that it fits. And that's simply my opinion. It's never felt right to me, arcade or reality aside. I mean, it's not like you can kill at long ranges with a shotgun, oh wait. I wish they'd not have that too. I guess I feel that picking a particular gun type ... shotgun, smg, assault, sniper, now marksman ... should have a clearer meaning than what's actually been implemented. Again, just my opinion.
Yes, I'm fairly ignorant about drag scoping. I've seen it in videos. I know that I've done it, likely accidentally, never purposefully and knowingly.
Actually, I just had an idea. And I'm not trying to make fun of sniping or be sarcastic ... I would actually really like to do it. Where, if you have a sniper rifle and you are really close to someone, you could swing it around like a club and hit them over the head.

IW has been the one all along that offered more of a sniper friendly game. Think MW2, COD 4. Treyarch, not so much. Think BO1. BO2 was Treyarch adjusting to the community and making a sniper friendly game. I'm not criticizing IW for doing what they may have done. It won't be actually confirmed until people have the game in hand. Nor am I being, I'm trying not to be, biased. But, you can't cater. That's where I've seen soooo many games fail. They cater to the needs of those that basically want things handed to them.
What I am saying is that people criticize those that snipe. I get hate messages all the time when I snipe. I delete them, have a laugh and move on. I also get messages that say good shooting or nice triple or something like that.
What about the Target Finder? What about a lot of things? I just feel that the focus is in the wrong place. It shouldn't be about taking Quickscoping out. It's something that has been around forever. In the casual scenes as well as in the professional scene. It should be about building a balanced game to give people more options. More opportunities to thwart those pesky snipers.
Just my opinion of course and I'm always down for a good debate :P
I've always thought that there should be some kind of melee with a primary. More so with a AR/Sniper than an SMG. I can't see someone trying to melee with the butt of an MSMC. There are definitely things that need twerked. No doubt about it. Like movement speed. Anyone that can run forever with a Barrett .50 is a fuckin beast in my eyes. I think there should be more of a weight factor of the weapon and the rest of your loadout on your movement speed. Knifing is something that definitely needs some work.
This conversation could go on for days and days and days. I honestly didn't think this thread would've hit 2 pages already lol.
