D-DAY June 6 1944 156,000 american,british, and canadian forces landed on five diffrent beaches UTAH,OMAHA,GOLD,JUNO, and SWORD. The airborn assault into normandy as part as the allied invasion of europe was the largest use of airborn troops up to the time.Paratroopers of the US was the 82nd and the 101st airborn division the British 6th Division and the 1st canadian parachute battalion. There was about a estimate of about 420,000 allies and german troops that died on D-DAY.

In honor of those who fought and died during the allied invasion of normandy i say thank you

My great grandfather was a medic during WW2 he is now like 98? I believe. Man was great, he is one of the men that if he went into full military dress his whole jacket would have medals and ribbons on it. He had a grenade explode by him and pieces got into his side and ear (still there today) He was cleared for duty the day they were leaving for D-Day.

He was one of the first to go into the concentration camps. He wont speak a dime of what he did/saw during WW2. Still one of the most inspirational man I have ever met.

It makes me proud to be British when we rolled out for this and fought for what what we believe in.i take my hat off to the British/American/Canadian armed forces these guys have done and seen shit that no civilian could imagine and for that I remember thee!!!!
