I just had the same problem.

I had to get a new hard drive, and have win7 reinstalled. Wish I had a better answer, but I don't.

A new hard drive or re-installing 7 would be the best way to go. Or you could upload a few pic for me and ill try my best.

If you can run command prompt, first delete everything on your hardrive then open prompt (If possible) and type in without quotes.

    "cipher /w:X:"

Replacing "X" with your hardrive designation. C or whatever it may be.

When you delete something on your computer, its not actually gone. It gets marked to be overwritten.
This command will permanently clear all DELETED data. Undeleted data WILL remain. Hopefully clearing up some issues in the harddrive. A de-frag before or after is also a good idea.
Compaq may or may not have a recovery function for windows in the bootup menu. You'll have to research your model. Otherwise you will need a starter disc, which can get pricey.

I hated my Compaq computer. It worked for about a week and then wouldn;t turn on.. I was pissed. But the only think i can think of is re-install windows 7. Or Windows 8.
