you don't have to but you should request an award you require the recruits to have

ok I am swamped with work this week but I will try to pop on
even if you want to call me it will only take 5-10 minutes give or take. whenever you get a chance no worries. also i understand your point, i didnt think of it that way hence why i asked. i have requested all previously awarded awards minus some BF3 ones. not sure if Gee still has them marked down somewhere. i lost time/date/map and they are most likely off my battlelog. so im waiting to see what happens before i request the others.
You can do a quick search with your previous gamertag in the awards thread and you should see all the awards you requested before.
