Just like Diamante said, just do it. Just block everyone out and focus on something directly in front of you to give them them impression you are looking at them most of the time. You will be fine Jazzy !

As a public speaker, Emcee, instructor, and former radio personality, I can empathise with you on this. But there are several techniques that can help you. Know you material, the better you know what you are going to say, the more comfortable you are saying it. Imagine that you are talking to a friend, the size of the audience wont matter if your focus is on one person. Talk to them, the audience wont know and you will be more at ease. Breathe...if you find yourself getting lost, pause, take a breath and refocus. The audience will assume you are pausing for effect. Finally, and its an old standby, imagine the audience in their underwear. Gives you a laugh before, and can be very calming, except for that ol' lady in the third row....DAMN, who could know that panties went up that high!

I would only add Preparation to Gee's note. The more familiar you are with the material the more confidence you will have.

Then prepare prepare prepare! Practice you speech in front of a mirror. Make notes, changes, watch for pauses, present your speech to your family, have them give you feedback. Even enlist friends, or at the very least, the peeps that chose you. Get their feedback. Rewrite what didnt go well, and do it again. As I said, the better you know what your going to say, the better you will say it.
