Internet speed test and what it means for my gaming.

So did a speed test and i'm getting 31 average download and only .95 up. Used to get around 1.5-2 upload. No idea what happened but going to be contacting my ISP. Anyway, for those of you who are more experienced wit this sort of thing... What is the minimum upload speed theoretically needed for flawless gaming?? I know obviously p2p servers and what not there is nothing you can do regarding the occasional bad connectiong... But in general am trying to find out what I should have. Thanks in advance

The 31 down is fine, but that low .95 up is bad. Very weird that you are getting that low of an upload speed with 31 down man, that tells me that your cable is bad or somewhere there is a splitter that is causing issues.

Like I said in another thread, you need at least 1.50 upload to have good gaming. Upload is what sends your information to others in the game and when it comes to you getting kills with .95 your information will take less time to register and be sent out to others.

Upload speeds are also good if you are host, low uploads will seriously fuck up someone's game.

Anything above 2 should work fine. If your directly connected to your modem or router you will get a better connection. If your only option is to run wifi make sure no one else is using it, multiple users will make you lag. Something cheech told me if you live in an older house try contacting your provider and get them to come out and check your lines. The older lines make your connection really bad.

Thanks for the reply guys. Monday before I pay my bill i'm going to tell them they need to check it out. I'm 99% positive this is the cause for me not doing as good in HC. I can't remember the last time I was in a game and had full green bars lol. My K/D is still positive... but playin wit the boys camping it kills me because if someone rounds a corner I can't kill them before they kill me even tho i'm already sighted in on them.

Correct, but you can get away with 1.5 and higher for your upload, but definitely have your ISP provider check your lines. Make sure you know ahead of time if you have rg59 or rg6 coaxial cable.

To find out what kind you have take a look at how thin the copper cable that looks like a needle that comes out of the connector. If you can easily bend it and it is thinner that a dime you have rg59. If it is pretty hard and you can not bend it as easily you have rg6 and it is about about the width of a dime or higher. The thicker the stinger is the better cable you have!

You can also check the cable's outside coate, sometimes you can see what type of cable you have because it will say RG59 or RG6.
