Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 sales down Updated 11:51 23 Nov 2012 by Nick Cowen
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2's UK sales are reportedly down 20 per cent when compared Modern Warfare 3's in the same period last year
Games Reviews Has the COD bubble burst? This is the question playing on the lips of gaming industry analysts following a report in MCV that the latest entry in the series has hit something of a wobble in terms of sales.

: Black Ops 2 has shifted 20 per cent less unit than Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 did in the same time frame last year. The latest issue of MCV states that the information about this drop in sales comes from UK retailers.
In spite of all this there are a couple of reasons not to write off the COD franchise just yet. First off, despite the comparatively sluggish first week sales, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 enjoyed the biggest UK launch of 2012 - the fourth largest of all time - and only the first Black Ops game had stronger first week sales. Second, as MCV points out, the retail conditions aren't exactly all that favourable, with the gaming retail market down 28.7 per cent for the same period last year.
It is, however, quite telling that Activision, who in the past have released bullish press releases detailing records broken and sales racked up, have been conspicuously silent this year. Estimates put day one global earnings of Black Ops 2 at $500m, but Activision hasn't confirmed exactly how many copies of the game have been sold.
