Being from the Bay Area... Go Giants! I'm think my dad and I might head out to one of the WS games, which is pretty good. Today we got an exciting matchup... Verlander vs Zito.
Zito has had an amazing comeback this year, so I'm actually confident about him facing Verlander.
And Verlander, is just Verlander. One hell of a pitcher.
Who are you guys going for in this year's WS?

I am a Dodgers fan so fuck the Giants, I will be going for the Tigers. Although I am going for the Tigers the fucking Giants really impressed me winning the last 3 games to take down the Cardinals.
A lot of people are giving most of the credit to Scutaro against the Cardinals, but Zito and Cain really came through in their last games. Caine once again proved he can be a threath at the plate and Zito proved he is still Ace material.
Donkey said in a previous thread how Sandoval, Pence, Pagan and the rest of the guys kicked ass. Well, we expect that from them not a pitcher starting a fucking slam fest.
The Giants pitchers will be playing a good team in the Tigers, they can hit and are very good base-runners, something that the Cards just didn't do against the Giants.
Just check this out, the Tigers are hitting .271 and their opponents are only hitting .176 in the post season.
The Giants are hitting .234 and their opponents are hitting .237 in the post season. While the differences in each team's hitting average is not that much different, that .037 difference in batting is going to mean a lot if the Tigers can keep the Giants at that .176 average.
Yes I know that doesn't mean that the Giants will bat .176 exactly, but if they are kept around or between .175 and .220 the Giants are going to need some serious pitching to get this done.
Now remember this, the Cardinals hit .234 in the postseason but allowed their opponents to hit .254. That is going to be something to look at, especially after Lincecum's horrible game vs the Cardinals.
This is going to be a fun World Series to watch, I can't wait to see who comes out on top. The Giants already proved me wrong 2 times this year, once by making it to the playoffs and then coming back from behind to win against the Cardinals.

Nothing like talking baseball at 2am. Scutaro is hot now, pence came out of his slump. Things are going just right, at the perfect time for SF. I believe the Giants will be MUCH more pumped up for this game, especially that they are playing in SF. Detroit hasn't played for a while after sweeping the Yankees. So, it could go either way. Playing the WS right after winning the NLCS has advantages and disadvantages.

Right, but that .176 average that the Tigers had in the postseason is going to mean a lot. Everyone on that Giants dugout is going to have to be swinging those bats good. They will have to show a lot of patience at the plate.
The Giants will have a good advantage in the first 2 games because they play at home and the Tigers will not have the DH to bat for the pitcher. The Giants should take those 2 games. The next 3 games will be in Detroit and both teams will have the DH and this really doesn't give either team an advantage.
The Giants will have 4 games at home compared to 3 for the Tigers, it is going to be very interesting!
