I want to know what other people do for a living so I thought I would start this up.
I am a line cook at the current moment working my way to become a chef. I have been a line cook for a year and a half now and love making new creative dishes and learning from the guys we train in the kitchen when we are hiring new managers.
So what does everyone here do for a living?

I'm currently working security. I have applied for a supervisory position and am waiting on an interview. This is just temporary until I finish school, then I will look into Police work.
I'm a Customer Service Rep with a private subcontracting company that changes water meters for American Water. more of a job than a career but all the people i work with are super nice and the atmosphere doesn't make it feel like going to work.
I drove a forklift for years, at the landfill and most recently at the slaughter house, about 6 weeks back the head doctors revoked my licences permanently... Fortunately am a lucky sob when it comes to picking winners so am making my coin that way for now
Assistant manager at a Dollar Tree. Everything having to do with running a store.. register.. deliveries.. stocking.. training and so on.
I'm currently in my final year of an engineering course, I was working in a call centre for Sky TV but they were knobs and I'm waiting to hear word from another company at the moment

I'm a carny... I own 10 games and a pizza stand on the west coast.. I've been in the business for 19 years and hopefully soon will be able to own a show .. I'm a natural born hustler.. I good at this shit
I currently work in shipping and at the parts counter at a company called AG Spray Equipment (the name should be self explanatory). We build and manufacture large agricultural sprayers and storage tanks - up to about 10,000 gallons in size.
I'm pretty much split in twenty different directions at work and not once have I been offered any sort of training; even after being requested.
I'm the only person in shipping; I pull orders for about eight salesman, as well as tickets for transfer that come from our other locations. I ship out about 100 packages via UPS (ranging from 1 pound to about 120 pounds), and I ship out about twenty shipments via LTL truck lines (average of two pallets per shipment).
All in all I deal with about 10-12 tons of equipment and small parts on a daily basis and handle anywhere from $25,000 to over $250,000 in merchandise every day.
I also have to check in and stock all merchandise that comes in.
To top it all off, I have to stop all of that at the drop of a hat if a customer walks in the front door to help them (probably 30-50 customers come in every day).
I'm expected to get all shipments done every day and I'm told to ask for help when I need it (but 75% of the time I get absolutely no help).
I bust my ass on a daily basis, just to come home and get pushed around some more in a house in which I don't have my own room or a place to store my own belongings.
My life is hell.

i work for a chevy dealership, started out wahing cars then moved to service porter and now i deliver parts. working up the ladder lol
I work for the provincial government in British Columbia, Canada. I have been working for the Wildfire Management Branch for 20 seasons now. From a wildfire fighter to crew leader to tactics officer to operations section chief to logistics section chief to an Aviation specialist. Currently I work in the Provincial Airtanker Program as an Air Attack Officer.
My job now consists of managing the aerial firefighting efforts from the cockpit. Coming up with fire action strategies and leading air tankers to drop retardant on fires. I am blessed with an amazing job and work with talented people. I posted some vids in the movies and music thread called bombing wildfires. Just a small cog in a big wheel, putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff.
I am also a cook. Currently positioned as a Senior Line Cook with my foot in the door for great opportunities within the company. Unsure if I would like to obtain my Red Seal in Culinary but the company does support and encourage any member willing to go for it. I work with a lot of skilled cooks, ranging from 21yo students to 45yo Chefs, which gives me the chance to learn many techniques and recipes to share down the line.
Restaurants have their own unique environment. Fast paced, loud and hectic during service so you enjoy the quiet times when you can, but they never last long enough. I've worked in restaurants for nearly 10 years now with prior experience in warehouses doing inventory, shipping and receiving and lots of data entry for product. I loved the environment working as an Inventory 'bitch' but there was little to no room to grow and earn a steady living.

I'm a general dogs body at a supermarket called ASDA.ASDA is Wal-Mart's Uk companies (offically owned by Wal-Mart just under a diff name).
At ASDA we thrive on being treated like shit on National minimum wage pay rates.

I'm with Milestones, not sure if you're familiar. We are a fine dining restaurant. Mainly red meats like slow roasted prime rib and 5 different steaks. Our apps consist of flatbreads, wings and pretty interesting dishes that I couldn't even put into a category. Many dishes off our menu are unheard of in my city and the restaurant was opened January of 2014. Still the young gun in town, but since, there has been lots of talk of other fine dine businesses coming up.Quote:

Here's a bit of what I do in my engineering course, had to draw all the parts up on solid works the. Printed them on a 3D printer, and then I had to write the code on the ABB robot but yeah that's my project almost finished.

I am a blacksmith/bladesmith/silversmith.
I make many different things, usually knives, so far, but I'd like to see my customer base take me out of that into more traditional work.
Fireplace tools, fences, gates, handrails, chandeliers, hammers, tongs, punches, chisels, wallhooks, wall deco, sculpture, silverware, combs, straight razors, small dishes, jewelry, boxes, trunks, chests, etc. Been debating making a Damascus controller case forever now...

I am a registered behavioral technician which does therapy with special needs kids to help develop speech, handwriting and other functions. I also, do auditing for a hotel and prep for a restaurant... yeah i work a lot
I worked various different jobs in the oil and gasfield all across the united states. I will continue to work in the industry for the rest of my life. Drill Baby Drill!

Thats about the only place i havent been yet. North Dakota pays pretty godly too. I earned every penny i made though.
Coliseum and contract administrator at a Horse Show/rodeo venue. I try to bring new events in plus get sponsorship/advertising dollars to make each show more profitable.

I am a store manager for wireless advocates basically I set up new contracts and upgrades for tmobile at&t and Verizon plus some tech support
Web design and run a saw at a Truss Company from 3pm to 11pm now...the saw is only 4 weeks old and its a piece of shit lol...ill take pictures tomorrow
