U.S. warns Russia: Ukraine intervention would be 'grave mistake'
Ukraine's UN envoy tells UNSC that Russian military helicopters and transport planes are entering his country, and that Russian armed forces seized Ukraine's main airport.

As Ukraine accused Russia of a "military invasion and occupation" on Friday, the United States warned Russia that intervention in Ukraine would be a "grave mistake." Ukraine said Russian troops had taken up positions around a coast guard base and two airports on its strategic Crimean Peninsula. The Kremlin kept silent on the accusations, as the crisis deepened between two of Europe's largest countries.

Yea man. That's one reason people are getting nervous of the situation. Man you think a war can break out? Possibly right?

If we do go to war, I heard our navy isn't as powerful now than before. We have less aircraft ships now. If I'm not mistaken, and if the information I heard isn't wrong, we only have 9 naval aircraft carriers. We had about 15 before.

GOP Slams Obama Plan to Cut Military to 'Pre-World War II Level'

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will propose on Monday a reduction in the size of the U.S. military to its smallest size since before World War II and scrapping a class of Air Force attack jets, The New York Times reported late Sunday.

The plans, which the paper said were outlined by several Pentagon officials on condition of anonymity, would be aimed at reducing defense spending in the face of government austerity after a pledge by President Barack Obama to end U.S. involvement in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It would leave the military capable of defeating any enemy but too small for long foreign occupations, and would involve greater risk if U.S. forces were asked to carry out two large-scale military actions at the same time.

Specifically, officials acknowledged that winning such a war would take longer, and there would be a larger number of casualties.

The plan also would:

Transfer the National Guard's Apache attack helicopters to the active-duty Army, which would transfer its Black Hawk helicopters to the National Guard;
Create an increase in health insurance deductibles and some co-pays for some military retirees and for some family members of active servicemen;
Call for slowing the growth of tax-free housing allowances for military personnel and would reduce the $1.4 billion direct subsidy provided to military commissaries;
Eliminate the entire fleet of Air Force A-10 attack aircraft;
Retire the famed U-2 spy plane in favor of the remotely piloted Global Hawk.
Overall, the Army, which currently has about 540,000 troops, will drop by about 20 percent to 440,000 troops over the next several years.

Latest news was, Russia media announces to Ukraine if they don't surrender soon, their military will storm in.

Putin has made the UN his bitch, and the UN is unwilling to change that because they don't want to scare China by taking action against a founding member.

But fortunately that won't happen. War between superpowers is a very long way off, if ever truly feasible. Everything is too economically connected. It's nothing but cyber warfare and handslapping for those guys.

our military is MOAR than capable dude, they could cut it by half and still have more than enough. our country spends 75-80% of our annual revenue on the Military, more than any other country by far.

Yea I'm aware of that but why now. With the events happening at Ukraine, why do that now? We can't underestimate Russia, they have a large and powerful army as well and if a war does break out. What will happen if its a long term war? They should decide that once the commotion at Ukraine dies down.

i mean the timing seems wrong but this could have in all likely hood been in the works for months, years even. i don't underestimate the rushkins but like Empy said all economies are intertwined. for instance, Saudi Arabia has over 3 trillion sitting in US banks. if they pulled it all at once we would be fucked.

Putin is just testing the waters, making sure he doesn't get skrinkage before he gets waist deep.

we need those small business' man they are apart of our economy, no matter how small, and more importantly are huge part's of our towns and communities beyond the income. as far as illegal's go, do you want to pick corn or tomato's, mow lawn's or clean hotel room's for shitty pay? and that isn't to say that those are job's all illegal's have but they are some of the only ones that don't ask questions. even the seasonal workers who come over to help and then go back. is it really fair to them that they do work that others think is below them and then have to go back to a shitty once they aren't needed? kinda of a raw deal.

funny story, kinda. my cousins had owned a bait shop for at least 20 something years. i don't want to sound smug or anything but most local fisherman came there for their bait, they had the best and biggest crawlers and for a very good price. eventually Dick's came to town and starting selling live bait, more crawlers and a cheaper price, they can afford to. quality wasn't as good but i digress, eventually the shop went out of business and they had to sell. whenever i tell people i meet my last name they always ask about the bait shop and what happened. people loved that place.

So the situation at Ukraine is getting worst. Russia is out of the G8. Russia violated Ukraine's airspace when Russia's aircraft crossed the border but retreated not long after crossing it since Ukraine started deploying their jets. So far its a game of chicken. Its also been said that nazis and some other group are there as well?! Lol not sure about how true that information is.

Also Ukraine President left his role as a leader from the stress. I believe Ukraine's Vice President is now the acting President of Ukraine. I'll check up on that.
