I don't like the idea of more police walking around schools. However, armed teachers, that is a great idea. Nobody is going to walk into a school full of armed adults and try to take out anybody. The target will move somewhere else, however.
they just need to put the damn gun in their own mouth and pull the trigger and be done with it

I also just read on it. The suspect was a STUDENT not an adult. I'm guessing the kid was probably a victim of bullying, but we'll have to wait and see. The only 2 dead are the suspect and a staff member that was trying to protect kids.

Least no harm was done to any other students! I feel bad for kids who suffer from bullying as I used to be a bully myself... I quit once I got older and realized that the harm I was doing to others all had reprocausions on my future as a person.

I used to take up for kids being bullied in school. I stayed in fights but it all went to use in an outstanding carreer in the Corps and Army.

I don't know what to say without offending people which I don't want to do at all but there has to be a better way than arming teachers. I am a teacher and I don't want to carry a weapon into my class room. My classroom is meant to be a warm, welcoming place were my students come and feel at home.
What's the solution?
Sticky i inderstand what you want in your classroom but you have to understand this situation. You cannot warm a crazy with a gun nor can you appeal to thier feelings. I am a Soldier and i look at every thing as such. This problem will only take more security to stop it. With an armed guard and possibly an armed teacher under cover or counceller

Armed guards would be a good idea..
From a different standpoint having armed guards also creates jobs for men and women.
i dont know ... sad that our society has come to this ... it truly is. i am sick of hearing of innocents dying all over the world for whatever reason ... it starts to get me down when this is happening so often and then with the terrible events in Kenya and the bombing in Volgograd .... bah
We need to be proactive not reactive. Sure more guards and armed teachers are one way to address the issue. But lets look at the root cause. Piss poor media and lack of parenting. Think that has to be a major focus. Kids do part of it for attention.
Sure glad Canadians don't have to even look at this as a solution...! :)

Put it this way Mad, my parents in the 80s were making $15 p/h (My Mom) and $18 p/h (My Dad) , my Mother worked for an Aerospace Company similar to McDonald Douglas and Northrop and my Dad as a truck driver and hes still doing that today.
The worked overtime every day Bro, sometimes up to 20 hours a day, on our block we were the "rich" kids, we moved out of the ghetto in 1991 because the economy was so good and my Parents could afford a 4 bedroom house finally with 2 brand new cars in good ole Riverside County when it starting booming with new housing projects.
Now my Mom can't find a job dude, the last 8 years she has been unable to get a job and she knew a lot of shit working at those Aerospace Companies, my Dad is safe till he retires because he works for a Company that is employed by the Military.
When Jr. took office, everything went to shit, but now with Obama, people can't even afford to get to work let alone medical coverage for their Families. Nothing good has come out of Obama being President, nothing at all.
